Storm

This a review for Storm by Brigid Kemmerer (4 cat review):

This book was pretty awesome-just sayin. I really enjoyed it. Chris and Beca were so meant for each other right from the beginning. The idea of brothers who could control the elements? Perfect for this generation of readers.

I liked that it was it Chris and Becca's perspectives so we could see what both of them were feeling. This was one of the few books that I didn't skip over the other person's (aside from the main character) perspective. I thought it was a great idea incorporating that technique into the novel. The plot was great, and it was very creative. At first I thought it was going to be about them trying to control their powers and yada yada. But, I was wrong. Seth and Tyler brought a whole new aspect to the book. It was actually exciting and I found myself biting my nails in suspense for the next "incident" between the main characters and Tyler's gang.

I don't know about anybody else but I was pretty thrilled that a girl saves Chris. Usually it's a guy saving a damsel in distress but Beca turned that around and helped Chris. It was a nice change and I thought it went very well with the story.

Before the story takes place, Beca has had some trouble in the boyfriend department and a past Beau has spread some pretty nasty rumors about her. For the past six months, she has been known as the school slut. The whore that slept with the whole soccer team. The emotional side of her made the story that much more touching and intimate. I won't ruin the book and tell you what happened to her so that the rumors started, but just know it's worth waiting for. My heart broke for the poor girl.

I wasn't so thrilled with the slowness of the book. That's really the only way to put it. There was a fair bit of waiting for exciting things to happen I found. Maybe I was just expecting a high action packed book? Whose to say?

Great book, and a must read!

Cheers,
Jessica

Review for Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton (5 cat review):

What lies inside, is what matters...

Ari has snow white hair, and neon blue/green eyes. No matter what she tries, her hair always grows back to the exact same length and returns to the same color. It brings unwanted attention to her. She hates it.

Ari returns to New 2, the New Orleans of the future, after two fatal hurricanes. New 2 is inhabited with the  paranormal: witches, shape-shifters, demi-gods, vampires, and all sorts of mythical creature. And Ari is one of them. She just doesn't know it yet. Every woman in her family has been dead by the age of 21. All either murdered or suicide. Its a curse. One that Ari is determined to remove.

I loved this book. It was so creative. It was a mix of the Hunger Games and Born at Midnight, with a little bit of its own twist. Kelly Keaton created a book that had suspense, romance (just a little), action, badass-ness,and that pain that lives inside each tortured character. That pain that brings them all together.

Ari was a strong female character that wasn't afraid of anything. I strongly related with her and she wasn't weak. I have always looked down on girls who need men to take care of them; to a certain extent. Ari opened herself up to Sebastian, a boy she meets in New 2, and they become inseparable.

Darkness Becomes Her has a little bit of everything and a great read. Check it out ASAP!

Review for Whispers at Moonrise by C.C Hunter (5 cat review):

I have been waiting for this book for 4 months. I read it the day it came out. It did not disappoint.

Kylie Galen has finally figured out what she is. A chameleon. She has no clue what that means except for that its a slimy green lizard that changes colours. I knew right from the beginning what it was. I mean isn't it obvious? But I'll let you guys figure it out...

It was really well wrote, like usual. C.C Hunter has created yet another, thrilling master piece. I powered through the whole thing, loving every minute of it.

Kylie is still conflicted about her love life, but she is leaning towards some certain fae. I am personally a Lucas fan, but whatever floats your boat. I think they both have wonderful qualities and are wonderful characters.

Sorry this review is so short. It was just great, nothing else to say :)

Review for Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs (5 cat review):

Three girls. Three lives. Three destiny's.

Greer, Gretchen and Grace are triplet girls, separated at birth, all sent to very different homes. Their fates are entwined and they are the mortal descendants of the Gorgon Medusa. They were born to fight and protect the world from monster that come to the human realm from the abyss.

None of the girls no anything about their history except Gretchen, who is taken in by one of Medusa's immortal sister, Euryale. She saved Gretchen from alcoholic parents that abused each other and her. She is trained and taught in the ways of killing.
Greer has very wealthy parents that have given her everything she could ever want... except their love.
Grace was adopted by a loving family with caring parents and a brother. She has never kept anything from them. Until now.

I thought this book was exciting, thrilling, touching and it made my heart warm at the love these sisters share in the end. They ban together to save the human world from the monsters they don't know exist. I thought it was interesting reading about the way their lives collided and exploded like an atomic bomb. I was also impresses by the way they handled it. I don't believe that girls always have to freak out about things like that, but Grace and Greer actually embraced it.

The Greek Mythology was by far the best part of the book. I adore Greek stories and learning about the Gods and Goddesses that the Greek's worship. The whole aspect of the Gods coming to life and being physically "real" is fun way to go about a fantasy book. Good job to Tera Lynn Childs on this one. I will defiantly be reading the next one, Sweet Shadows.

This is my review of Jekel Loves Hyde by Beth Fantaskey (4 cat review):

Synopsis:Jill Jekel has always obeyed her parents rules; especially the one about never opening the mysterious, old box in her father's office. But when her dad is murdered, and her college savings disappear, she's tempted to peek inside, as the contents might be the key to a lucrative chemistry scholarship.

To improve her odds, Jill enlists the help of gorgeous, brooding Tristen Hyde, who has his own dark secrets locked away. As the team of Jekel and Hyde, they recreate experiments based on the classic novel, hoping not only to win a prize, but to save Tristen's sanity. Maybe his life. But Jill's accidental taste of a formula unleashes her darkest nature and compels her to risk everything, even Tristen's love just for the thrill of being . . . bad.

Jill Jekel loves Tristan Hyde. Are they each others alter ego's? Like The Strange Case of Dr.Jekell and Mr.Hyde?  Well you will just have to enter the Chemistry Lab and find out.... MWHAHAHA

This book was fun. Fun is really the one of the only words that can describe how I felt about Jekel Loves Hyde. It was fast moving and exciting. At times I did feel like it was moving a little to fast for real life. The characters started to develop feelings a little to rapidly to be believable, but once the status of "couple" or "partners" was established the relationship was more conceivable.

The Characters:
Jill is a timid, shy, sweet, and innocent girl who just wants to get into her dream school and get over her father's brutal murder, a couple months before. She is a character that we can all relate to, her being socially awkward and quiet. But when it comes to Chemistry, she is a super-star. She wants to win a 30,000 dollar scholarship and get into Smith (the school she wants to attend after high school). Being a smart girl, she teams up with the resident bad-boy, Tristan Hyde, who also happens to be a chem genius. That where things start to get interesting. The Jekel-Hyde team is born.

Tristian is the over-confident, rich, British, hot boy next door. But he has a curse. The Hyde family curse.... The "beast", as he calls it, lurks beneath his calm outer facade and threatens to overtake him when angry. When he finds out the quiet girl Jill Jekel has an idea of how to cure him, of course he accepts.

But what happens when the very thing you were trying to fight consumes the thing you were fighting for?

When Jill and Tristan are kissing in the chem lab, some of the elixir is taken in by Jill. The beast now lives in her. She starts going mad and turning into the bad girl she was never suppose to be. Lust, seduction and blood rule her world. Tristan was saved but can she be?

Just an overall great read. I thought the other may have needed to slow down in some parts but it ended up fairly well. Happy reading!

Cheers,
Jessica
